Coolant Fluid Exchange

Why is it important?

Coolant fluid is what helps moderate optimal temperature of the engine and prevent corrosion. Over time, the fluid breaks down and fails to protect engine components such as your vehicle’s radiator, water pump, freeze plugs, and many more. Modern vehicles have longer intervals suggested between changing of the coolant fluid, but often owners are unaware this is even necessary.

What we inspect

Archie’s technicians will inspect your engine’s fluid levels, although even when topped off, if your vehicle continues to overheat, a flush may be necessary. Other telltale signs of your vehicle needing a coolant flush may be grinding or banging noises while your engine is in operation, coolant leaks, and odd smells when the hood is raised.

When should you get a radiator flush?

An engine overheating is the most common sign of needing a coolant flush. Your vehicle manufacturer may or may not advise you on when to get a coolant flush, but car mechanics often recommend doing them more often than the manufacturer recommendations. An overheating engine can be unsafe, and lead to expensive auto repairs.

*The mechanics of Archie’s Brake & Quick Lube are committed to treating your vehicle like family, which is why all maintenance schedules and service intervals will follow Manufacturer’s Recommendations, where applicable.
